Bug Ego

Synopsis

Bug Ego Chapter 25 has been released. Akira's fingers danced across his phone screen as he poked at digital realities like a mad entomologist – collecting rare bugs in every corner of the virtual landscape. His partner, Taro, chuckled knowingly on the other end of the line, privy to Akira's secret obsession: exploiting these ephemeral creatures for more tangible gain. It started innocently enough – small gains here and there, smooth scams run against unsuspecting classmates or teachers. But with each successive score, the stakes escalated. The thrill had long since given way to desperation. Now, Akira was fueled by addiction – eternally seeking that next fix, another laughable bug to corner, ride roughshod over, then discard without so much as a second thought. Their respective lives, once relatively unscathed, teetered precariously between powder kegs waiting to go off, held together only by threadbare caution and tightly reined instincts. The question wasn't whether this fragile house would collapse under its own weight eventually but when exactly it would happen. All it took was one predictably incompetent misfire, a naive stunt involving too many variables and poor risk assessment, to turn what passed for blissful ignorance into screaming nightmares – crippling repercussions measured not just in dollars and cents but far more deeply: battered relationships, love ones turned into enemies all because of unchecked arrogance... their oblivious judgment painted the unglamorous face of sorry regrets amidst scar tissue skinned and rubbed raw, still heavy with miasma summoned back up into clearifying sobs borne.
