Synopsis

Self-Glorification Chapter 25 has been released. In the depths of a high school where social hierarchies reign supreme, Jeong Yeong-hwan exists as a perpetual outcast, a mere pawn in the relentless game of bullying that has consumed his daily existence. The physical blows he endures are but a mere symptom of a more insidious affliction - the suffocating weight of emotional neglect and the crushing validation of his own self-worth by the very people who claim to be his peers. What sets Yeong-hwan apart, however, is his peculiar coping mechanism: a desperate, all-consuming drive to self-glorification. He finds solace in the twisted notion that his tormentors' disdain is, in fact, a testament to his own inherent value and worth. In a world where he is constantly reminded of his insignificance, Yeong-hwan clings to the fragile thread of self-admiration, elevating his own ego to an almost mythic status. This self-aggrandizing narrative, however, comes at a steep price. As Yeong-hwan becomes increasingly consumed by his own grandeur, the lines between reality and fantasy begin to blur. His perception of self-worth becomes inextricably linked to the validation of those who have long rejected him. Will he find a way to break free from the suffocating grip of his own ego, or will the self-glorification that has become his lifeline ultimately prove to be his undoing? "Self-Glorification" is a thought-provoking exploration of the human psyche, delving into the darker corners of our collective desire for validation and the destructive consequences that can arise when we become trapped in our own self-aggrandizing narratives. Through Yeong-hwan's complex and deeply flawed character, this manga offers a searing indictment of the toxic social dynamics that pervade our schools and communities, raising essential questions about the true cost of self-admiration and the perils of becoming trapped in our own self-created mythologies.
